I have a long time hobby playing the drums, which started in 1995. In hopes of becoming a better drummer I have been learning to play the bass guitar. I enjoy playing a variety of music, such as rock, blues, funk and some metal to name a few.
Wine Making
I am an amateur wine maker. My wife and I started with a kit wine and we really enjoyed the results. After we did a few kit wines we decided it was time to create a wine from scratch.
We found a winery in Maryland that imported grapes and juice from Chile. The photos to the left show parts of the process. We purchased Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc juice and Merlot grapes. We actually used three different types of oak to taste the differences. We had four six gallon carboys, three of which contained one of three oaks, American, French and Hungarian. The fourth carboy we aged without oak. In the end it was all mixed together for bottling.
The image with the buckets shows the wine during fermentation. The image with the carboys was during final prepping for bottling. The image with the people is the bottling party we had where we bottled about 170 bottles of wine. The last image shows the labels that my wife and created.
Travel
One of my life goals is stepping foot on each of the seven continents. North America, Asia and Europe are complete but I still have four to go. My wife and I have visited many countries while vacationing. Between work, the Navy and vacation I have been able visit 30+ countries.
There so much to see and experience in the world and not enough time to see it all.
